Rachel Monroe has no illusions about her impending wedding. Her marriage will ultimately save her mother from the medical bills incurred by a workplace shooting her father suffered. She’s willing to make the personal sacrifice, but her brother has other ideas – and Rachel’s none too happy when she’s transported from the church to a tropical paradise by some friend of Aiden who has freakish abilities. Granted the man is sexy, but he’s a professional agent, just like the people suspected of killing her father, which puts him in a category she deems as nothing more than trained killer.
Tristan has always gone out of his way to not form any attachments to any human beings besides his fellow co-workers, but something about Rachel’s innocent, friendly mannerisms calls to him. The big concern about caving into their mutual desire is her brother, whom Tristan’s almost positive isn’t going to be happy over this new development. Tristan’s determined to protect Rachel, but no one suspected the level of deceit and betrayal that they’ll be forced to face before everything is said and done.
Joni Hahn has won herself a new fan. Admittedly I’m not typically a ‘superhero’ fan, but definitely started to discover the appeal with the release of the Avenger’s movies, especially Iron Man. With AGENT I1: TRISTAN Joni Hahn introduces readers to a unique agency that uses scientific enhancements to gift agents with superhero abilities which is pretty dang cool. What I really loved about this story is how the author brings these characters to life through their various attributes, stressful situations and emotional angst. Rachel’s inherent goodness and the sexual tension between her and Tristan is the perfect balance for the chaos that otherwise seems to want to steal the spotlight.
AGENT I1: TRISTAN is the first title in the D.I.R.E. AGENCY series. Be sure to pick up copies of the rest of the series. Believe me, they’re impossible to resist.
AGENT E2: AIDEN
AGENT T3: D-ARTAGNAN
