Jeff isn’t quite sure what’s going on. First there was an older man talking about his only living blood and how it’s his Alpha’s duty to protect her, yet the female in question isn’t even part of their pack. Surely the old codger has few screws less. However, he soon discovers the mystery woman tied up and gagged hidden in the shadows of a nearby bush, and it takes every ounce of his control to tamp down the desire he feels when her scent wraps itself around him.
Katie is pissed off. How dare that old man, whom she didn’t even know, kidnap her only to dump her in some unknown werewolf territory? Katie has never been a part of a pack and aside from her mother she doesn’t know any werewolves personally so she isn’t completely comfortable with Jeff’s perusal of her – or the uncontrollable lust she experiences just by being in close proximity to him.
Jeff has absolutely no doubt that Katie is his destined mate but he’s troubled by the many questions left unanswered. The old man claimed to be related to Katie but she denies having any living family besides her mother, so who is he really and why did he kidnap and dump her? Those are questions best left to his Alpha to decipher; Jeff has more pleasurable pursuits to occupy his time… like drizzling chocolate over Katie’s naked flesh and licking and nibbling at the gooey trail until they’re both in a mindless state of arousal. Of course they can’t spend all their time making love – not when there are questions that need answering and the werewolf who can answer them may still be nearby.
Anne Kane’s newest release DARK KISSES builds on the story already begun with Jeff’s Alpha and his mate in SEDUCING DESTINY with decidedly delicious results. The sparks between Katie and Jeff are undeniable right off the bat and only seem to become more intense as they get to know each other better. Katie’s insecurity and lack of knowledge about werewolf packs is endearing yet sad at the same time. Fortunately Jeff’s more than willing to give her a crash course in ‘pack membership 101.’ DARK KISSES is an imaginative tale full of love, laughter, a bit of mystery, plenty of sex and, of course, chocolate. This is the perfect calorie free way to indulge your sweet tooth. Well, maybe it’s not quite as good as real chocolate but if you’re anything like me you’ll be drooling over the various body parts chocolate could be dribbled over – and licked off.
