Nicholas “Nic” Balfour Montague is a rake that was born into the life with all the privileges that life has to offer until his mother was hanged for treason.  He is now exiled from England after everything was turned back to the crown.  Nic and his faithful valet, Gaston have been living in a run down tenement amongst the gutters of New York trying to make it on the last of their money.  Gaston persuades Nic to board the train to Nebraska where business seems to be booming and there is a chance for a new life.  But, their trip takes a sudden turn when they step off the train in Nebraska to the bad hospitality from the sheriff and some of townsfolk, ending up in jail.

Since her parent’s death, Josie Sullivan has been running Sullivan Farms with the help of her younger sister and brother.  When she goes into town to bail her brother, Brody out of jail, Josie ends up paying the bail for newcomers, Nic and Gaston also.  They agree to help Jose out at the ranch to pay off their debt.

Josie and her crew have their hands full trying to teach Nic and Gaston ranch work.  Their hard work pays off as they become a very important part of the family and the town.  Josie and Nic find themselves giving into the kind of passion that few ever experience only to have it tainted with his insecurities and the treachery of others.

Josie discovers love is WORTH THE RISK when she  takes a chance with the man who has stolen her heart and soul.  I am a great fan of Eve Asbury and jumped at the chance to read another one of her wonderful stories.  She brings to life the pain and hardships of ranching.  Ms. Asbury shows the importance of family and one’s heritage.  WORTH THE RISK is definitely a keeper.
