The Trouble With Moonlight

Lusinda Havershaw lives with her two sisters and her Aunt Eugenia.  Unlike most people, she must schedule her life according to the phases of the moon.  During certain phases, she is completely invisible – that is, as long as she is not wearing any clothes in which she can be detected.  Secretly, she uses her gift to support her family by performing recovery services.  It is so secret that if that knowledge becomes public, the family will have to pull up stakes and move in the middle of the night.  Lusinda has always wanted a family, but has long since given up hope.  No man wants a wife who will disappear on certain moonlit nights.  Besides, there are those who will pay well for the capture of one of her ilk.

James Locke, an agent faithful to the crown, has a legendary skill for cracking safes.  He is trying to recover a special document believed to have fallen into the wrong hands.  That document contains a list of British operatives, and unfortunately, it is quite possible that his name is at the top of the list.  As a spy, James is forced to live his life alone since anyone close to him could be used to get to him.  However, there are things about him that no one knows.

From the moment James sees a ruby necklace float right out of Lord Pembroke’s safe and follows it to Lusinda’s home, he is fascinated.  Deciding that Lusinda is the person he followed and determined to unravel the mystery, he puts it to the test.  He hires her to recover something for him.  Suspicious, but needing the twenty pounds he offers, Lusinda accepts the job.  Little does she know the trap about to be sprung.  Though James has secrets of his own, he has plans for her.

What follows is a series of adventures and misadventures.  Though an invisible woman should not stir James, the fact that he knows she wears no clothes lures him.  The knowledge that he knows where she is at all times - whether she is visible or not – and talks directly to her, even when she is invisible, only strengthens her attraction to him.  Through it all, they fight their feelings for each other.  How will James use this information?  Can Lusinda trust him with her secret?
