Georgiana and Clarissa’s plans are threatened when their cousin Miss Anne de Bourgh disappears. Unable to locate Anne anywhere, Georgiana and Clarissa feel guilty at having a hand in her disappearance. After all, they were the ones who started bringing Anne out of her shell, and she meets with them almost daily without being accompanied by her keeper, Mrs. Jenkinson. Anne’s disappearance brings a cloud over Georgiana and Clarissa’s debut into society, and matters are only made worse when it appears Clarissa is setting her sights on the one man Georgiana has expressed interest in. Suddenly, Anne does appear to be all that Georgiana thought she was and things suddenly turn complicated.

Turning from a young girl into a young woman is hard enough without being pressured by society to act certain ways with no exceptions.
