Esme leaves her cabin aboard the ship when she hears a noise outside. That is when she discovers a man trying to free himself from the ropes outside. She rushes to his aid and takes him back to the safety of her cabin. When he becomes inconsolable, she takes his mind off the moment. What starts out as an innocent encounter soon leads to an unwanted marriage between them. Neither Esme nor Roman could have prepared themselves for what was about to happen next.
THE ART OF DUKE HUNTING captivates the reader with its unique and charming mix of characters. Esme and Roman may be the primary characters in this novel, but secondary characters like the Duke of Candover and Roman's sister, Verity, are almost just as entertaining. Esme is by far not your typical heroine. She is bright, witty and very independent. She knows she is not a beauty and therefore does not rely on that to win everyone over as many women in her time did. Roman is also not what you would expect in a hero, but he makes a darn good one. Esme and Roman portray what romance is all about. I absolutely loved THE ART OF DUKE HUNTING.
