When Colleen MacGregor rescues an unconscious man in the snow she has no idea how this one act of compassion will alter the course of her life.   Married to a stranger to salvage her reputation, she is soon whisked away to London in the midst of the Season for a debut as the new Countess of Penwyth.   Sebastian Ware, the new Earl of Penwyth had no intention of meeting his prim rescuer until he discovers her presence in his home.   He also didn’t plan on developing feelings for the woman who now seems to be in grave danger.   Will the pair discover the threat in time to declare their love?   Only time will tell.

In the first installment of her Once Upon an Accident series, Melissa Schroeder introduces readers to an original heroine who will capture hearts and an alpha hero that is felled by the love of a compassionate woman.   The characters are complex and full of human flaws with plenty of internal struggle, allowing this reader to forge an emotional connection from the onset.   Colleen is a woman burned by men before, yet has a vulnerable side that is gradually revealed as we get to know her better.   The slow glide into love is a beautiful thing to behold between Colleen and Sebastian, romantic and emotional in its intensity.   There is no doubt that these two compelling characters are meant to be together.   The love scenes are explosive, yet romantic in every way.   The element of danger that is introduced kept this reader guessing until the dramatic climax.   These are realistic characters that I will revisit again and again.   Melissa Schroeder has found a place on my auto-buy list with THE ACCIDENTAL COUNTESS.   I cannot recommend this one enough if you love a great love story.
