Thalia Chase is a muse like her three sisters, Cali, Clio and Cory.  Her sister Clio is off on her honeymoon.  Her father, who was now remarried to his longtime companion, Lady Rushworth, is ready to see new places.  So the couple, with Thalia’s younger sister, Cory, was on their way to Geneva.  Having just finished their excavation in Sicily, Thalia was tired of traveling so she was headed home to England.  Her oldest sister, Cali, was expecting her first child and anxious for her family’s return home.  Since Cali and Clio were close, being the oldest, she figured Cali would probably want Clio by her side, but she could make do with Thalia.  Her own family seemed to believe she was pretty and brainless, with nothing in her head but ribbons and novels, an amusement.  She was not quite a Chase, at least not like the others.  She had met a handsome, passionate man, Count Marco di Fabrizzi, but she was certain he was in lover with her sister, Clio.  Thalia had several suitors, but none were like Marco.

Count Marco di Fabrizzi was skilled at disguises, a great actor.  He uses his talent to recover the lost artifacts that are part of his country’s heritage.  He has only ever loved one girl, Maria.  As a young man, he loved and planned to marry Maria.  When he went into the army, she followed and ended up being killed.  He was determined to never place another woman in danger.  Marco had been sure he would never love like that again.

Back in England, trying to forget Marco, Thalia is startled to see how weak and pale her sister Cali is since the difficult birth of her daughter Psyche.  So Thalia accompanies her sister and brother-in-law to Bath, hoping the waters will bring color to Cali’s too pale, too thin face.  At the waters, she sees Marco with Lady Riverton, their suspected thief of the silver altar set.  Thalia cannot imagine the two of them together unless he is on a mission.  Still thrilled at the way she had helped Clio in Sicily, she wants to feel that way again…wanted to be needed.  So she is determined to find out what Marco is doing and help him, whether he likes it or not.

Seeing Thalia, Marco knows her impulsive and inquisitive nature.  He is afraid that she will interfere with his dangerous mission and get herself hurt in the process.  He could not stand for anything to happen to her.  After she badgers him for information repeatedly and successfully spies on her own, he has no choice but to make her his partner in this mission.  He knows she would be safer if he stayed away from her, but when danger suddenly thrusts itself into their midst, he knows he will do anything to keep her by his side forever.

TO KISS A COUNT, the third book in the CHASE MUSE trilogy, is a steamy and witty historical romance.  Among other qualities, author Amanda McCabe uses danger, humor, witty repartee, charismatic and compelling characters, a passionately suspense-filled plot and steamy love scenes to make this story a winner.  Especially touching is the scene between Thalia and her niece, Psyche, as Thalia gives her an early lesson on ancient artifacts.  For additional pleasure, be sure to read the first two books in this trilogy, TO DECEIVE A DUKE and TO CATCH A ROGUE.  I highly recommend TO KISS A COUNT to those looking for a delightful read.
