Andre Duncan, Earl Westbook, has quickly discovered that the relationship he shared with his mistress is vastly different now that she’s his wife.  He was never under the illusion that it would be smooth sailing but he certainly hadn’t anticipated how rapidly their relationship has deteriorated.   He married Corina after learning of her pregnancy but it wasn’t just because of the baby, he genuinely wants her by his side and in his bed.

Corina loves Andre but given the choice of remaining his wife or being a mistress she’d much rather be a mistress.   When they were just lovers they were free to enjoy time together engaging in all sorts of carnal acts but now even at home, there are certain expectations and spontaneous lovemaking is a thing of the past.

Corina had grave misgivings about marrying Andre.  Not because of her feelings for him but because she’s well aware that she’ll never fit in with his peers and society won’t accept her as his wife.  Since her miscarriage Corina’s been on a real emotional roller-coaster.  She hadn’t even been aware that she wanted the baby until it was gone and then Andre left her at his country estate while he returned to their London home, so obviously their marriage was a huge mistake.  One she fully intends to rectify.

Corina’s decided that asking for a divorce is the only way to eradicate herself from this intolerable situation.  To her shock, Andre has no intention of agreeing to let her go.  He’s determined to make their marriage work but he’s really clueless as to how to make that happen or even the full extent of the problem.  Fortunately, Corina is now under the wings of two esteemed ladies of the Ton who call themselves The Bliss Society.  They’re determined to help her find happiness in her marriage and acceptance amongst the Ton.  In exchange, they want to know exactly what it is that a mistress knows that wives don’t.   Their friendship proves to be a balm that Corina desperately needs – and may prove to be beneficial to everyone concerned in ways they never expected.

Catherine Stang & Donna McAteer combined their writing talents to create a story that evokes all your emotions.  Corina’s story is simply heart wrenching – from the reason she became a mistress to a devastating miscarriage and then the belief that her marriage is a mistake.  Andre’s confusion over Corina’s desire for a divorce made me smile simply because it’s such a male trait to be so clueless.  I found great humor in Francine and Darcy and their pride in The Bliss Society.  They’re very open and honest and their support of Corina is endearing.  This historical tale allows readers to feel like they’re part of Corina and Andre’s close knit group of friends and their problems become your own.  MORE THAN A WIFE is a delightful story and if there’s any doubt that a wife cannot be her husband’s mistress, well, Corina proves differently – and Francine and Darcy are more than happy to follow her instructions.  This is the first title in the BLISS SOCIETY series and I have to admit I’m looking forward to reading even more about these remarkable women and their aspirations of keeping their men happy – sexually.
