Royce Varisey always thought he would be able to reconcile with his father.  However, his return home is to bury his father.  With his inheritance in jeopardy from the Crown, Royce finds that he must marry.  The major problem is he has too many secrets.  He used to be Dalziel, the mysterious leader of the Bastion Club, who served his King and home.  Though the irony doesn’t escape him, he finds an unexpected prospect in Minerva Chesterton.  Not only has he known her since she was a child, she knows the estate better than he given that she is the chatelaine of the estate.  As the desire and passion heats up between the two, Royce learns that the elusive traitor that he failed to capture is setting up Royce for the ultimate heartbreak.  Can Royce unmask the villain before it is too late?

MASTERED BY LOVE is the final book in the Bastion Club novels and what a way to end it.  Royce, aka Dalziel, has been in the background of all the other books so I was thrilled to finally get to read his story.  I expected his mate to be strong and passionate and Minerva did not disappoint.  Not only did she tame the beast inside him but she is his partner in every way.  She understands his commitment to his people and his tentative steps to change his family’s legacy.  Royce doesn’t want to marry for status.  He wants the love he sees with his fellow members and their wives.  Minerva opens his eyes to change and even helps apprehend the traitor.  The secondary characters are numerous which included the various Bastion members and even a few Cynsters.  They help bring the story full circle.  Although MASTERED BY LOVE is the last book in this series, I hope we the readers will be able to get updates on Royce and all of the Bastion members.  They are definitely unforgettable.
