Elizabeth “Libby” Strang doesn’t know why that man on the train was being so nasty to her but she is surely glad that he is gone. The man that helped her is respectful and kind and Libby feels so much better since he got rid of the man trying to touch her. She may be a mail order bride, but she is in no way deserving of such foul and disrespectful treatment. When the train finally reaches its destination, Libby fretfully watches as all of the other mail order brides are claimed. It seems that the man she promised to marry has died, leaving Libby husbandless as well as penniless.
Jim is once again Libby’s knight in shining armor when he suggests that she marry him. These two souls embark on a charming adventure, all the while learning to love and care for each other. They have no idea that one evil man is determined to seek his revenge.
Alex de Kok has woven a tale of love and adventure using a favorite plotline of mine. Mail order brides have always captured my attention; I can only imagine the courage that it takes to marry an unknown man. After reading the blurb for MAIL ORDER BRIDE, I was instantly intrigued. With interesting characters and a seedy bad guy, I had an afternoon of fun reading.
