Klondike Doctor

Sergeant Colton Hunter and his team of Mounties are heading to the Klondike to catch a group of thieves that have been terrorizing travelers. As a Canadian Mountie one of Colt’s duties include being the personal bodyguard to the Finance Minister of Canada. But on this particular trip Colt is expected to escort the Minister’s daughter, Dr. Elizabeth Langley, to the Klondike. The mission to the Klondike is hard enough without bringing a woman along. Colt tries everything to talk Elizabeth out of going but in the end he is forced by duty to take her.

On her uncles death bed Elizabeth vowed to him that she would right the wrong he committed so long ago. In order to keep that promise Elizabeth must make the trek to the Klondike, despite the peril she might find along the way. Colt and his men make no secret about the fact that they do not want her along, but as long as she is willing to follow their rules they are willing to take her. Elizabeth doesn’t realize how hard these rules are going to be to follow.

As the group make their way across Canada’s north they find themselves tangled up in one adventure after another. The hardest part for Colt is controlling his feeling’s that are growing for Elizabeth, which are anything but brotherly. Will Colt and Elizabeth be forced to choose between their careers and their love for each other? When Elizabeth is reunited with Gerard, her fiancé will Colt lose her for good?

Author Kate Bridges has been charming readers with her books about the Canadian Mounties for years, and now she brings us a whole new series to experience. In the beginning I thought Elizabeth was going to be one of those whiney, spoiled heroines but she soon shows what she is made of. I found myself rooting for her not only about her turmoil with Colt but with her medical career as well. Colt really proved his manhood to me when he stood up for Elizabeth and supported her career in a time when men didn’t do that. Kate’s vivid detail and heart-warming love story kept me completely enthralled until the very end. KLONDIKE DOCTOR definitely proves to be the start of something wonderful and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series KLONDIKE WEDDING.
