Eight years ago, Meg fell overboard a ship, and was lost at sea. A ship came upon her and saved her from certain death, but it was not the rescue that she hoped for. The ship captain proceeded to hold her captive so that she might teach his young country wife to be a lady. Unfortunately, he was a very abusive man, and his wife did not last long under his care. Fearing for her life as well as Jake's, the captain's son, Meg devises a plan of escape and flees with Jake in tow.
Meg is relieved, yet shocked when her rescuer is none other than her past love, Will. They were to be married when the accident occurred, ending any chance of a hopeful future for either one of them. Old feelings are re-awakened, and things are starting to heat up between Meg and Will again. Meg knows that Jake's father will use every resource he has to find her and she does not want to put Will or her own family in any danger, but she may not have any choice with Will's determination to be her protector.
Jennifer Haymore had me with the title, PLEASURES OF A TEMPTED LADY. The fact that this is book number three in her enchanting DONOVAN SISTERS series, is only icing on the cake for me. PLEASURES OF A TEMPTED LADY really shines with its vivid characters, heated love scenes, and charming dialogue. Ms. Haymore is a superb writer and is quickly becoming a very popular author in the historical romance genre. I can honestly say that I have not read a novel by her that I have not gushed about to someone. Each of her stories is a delight in itself.
