Impure Longings

Dorothea Harper is at the end of her rope. Money is tight and her circumstances are no longer safe. Turning to her friend, she decides it’s time to take on a protector, someone who can provide for her and that she can share her body with. She just never expected her heart to get involved.

Lord Daniel Tremayne harbors a secret from the ton, he is reclusive and yet utterly handsome. After releasing his last mistress, he is in search of another. Some ladybird he can support and protect, a woman he can bed and fulfill all his longings with. He just never expected her to affect him so much.

Ms. Lyons pens a hot tale so steamy I was sure my computer was going to short circuit. Written in a form true to the era it represents, it was still descriptive enough that I wanted to reach for a fan at one point.

Her character of Daniel Tremayne was so endearing that I wanted to reach into the pages and grab him for myself. His secret, which is hinted at throughout the book, had my heart going out to him. As a successful Lord and member of the Ton, his need to keep it was blatantly apparent. He was confident and sure, yet he still managed to come across as loving and caring even though his arrangement with Dorothea was just that.

As for Dorothea, I could relate to her as a person, and given her circumstances I can’t say I would not have made the same choices. She was strong and vulnerable at the same time. Her acceptance of Daniel’s secret was not at surprising and only added to their budding romance.

IMPURE LONGINGS was a satisfying read that left me wanting more from Ms. Lyons in the future.
