SCANDALOUS DESIRES is a book I have longed to read and I felt immensely satisfied at the story’s end. Silence and Mickey do not have an easy road ahead of them. Mickey is a pirate, he is greedy and often more callous than he needs to be. However, his care and love for Silence eventually shine through in his actions. He realizes he cannot hope to keep her if he does not give something of himself in return though of course, at first he believes material possessions will satisfy Silence. These two have much to work out between them, not the least of which is how Mick hurt her by ruining her reputation. There is pain in this love story but oh, the eventual pleasure that comes from their happiness together is wonderful to read about. Elizabeth Hoyt impressed me with this book. Though Mick is a pirate, and not exactly a nice man, I came to understand why he did what he did, what motivated his actions and words and it allowed me to be more forgiving. Of course, Silence is not a saint either. She expects Mick to change instantly and that is just not possible. Fortunately, there are powerful feelings between these two that help heal the hurts.
SCANDALOUS DESIRES is the third book in the MAIDEN LANE series and it stands alone very nicely. Elizabeth Hoyt provides a brief back story about the previous books that allows any reader to jump right into Silence and Mick’s story.
SCANDALOUS DESIRES is a love story of two very opposite people who come together in with love and understanding. Elizabeth Hoyt is at the top of her game with this book. Her historical romances are destined to stand the test of time.
