FBI agent Morgan Nash has devoted his whole life to getting the bad guys and brining them to justice. His dedication, while admirable, has wreaked havoc with his personal life. He hardly ever sees his friends and his romantic relationships don’t tend to last very long as evidenced by his recent breakup with his boyfriend.

Morgan doesn’t apologize for the way he lives his life, but even he has to admit that he could use a vacation as soon as his assignment is over. London isn’t Morgan’s idea of a fun place to be, it’s cold and rainy and he has been freezing his butt off of in a warehouse for days. Now he may finally have a break in the case. He follows his lead to the British Museum, but once there he gets more than he ever bargained for.

Ezra is startled when a man appeared before him at the British Museum. When he had recited the incantation he never thought anything would come of it. Ezra may have the ability to speak to spirits, but he didn’t believe it was possible to pull a man through time until now. He and his friends have brought Morgan Nash over a hundred years into the past. The question is what will they do with him?

DOWNTIME by James Allen is a fantastic read. I absolutely loved this story. It has all the things I enjoy most in a story: adventure, romance, ghosts and a good mystery. The author brings 1888 London and the Jack the Ripper killings alive in vivid detail. Morgan Nash is a very dynamic character. It is very entertaining to see the past through his eyes. I felt like I was there with him. Ezra is a sweet and sympathetic character but he also has an inner strength that I really admire. I came to really care about both of these men and about all their friends as well. The time travel and paranormal elements felt very real to me. I was sorry to see this book end. I highly recommend it.
