Miss Minerva Montrose is being presented to the ton. She can hardly contain her excitement. Minerva plans to one day be the wife of a very important man and since Mr. Parkes is aiming to be Prime Minister one day, he is the perfect candidate for marriage. It is just the start of the season, but by season's end, Minerva is convinced that she will become his wife soon. All of her grand plans are dashed when a scoundrel, the Marquis of Blakeney, compromises her. It is not long before Minerva finds herself walking down the aisle, just with the wrong man.

The Marquis of Blakeney, or Blake for short, arrives late at the ball. He has just come from his mistresses' residence and is thoroughly soused. When Blake glimpses a lady lying on a couch, he cannot help but to approach her. What he meant to be a joke among friends soon turns into the surprise of a lifetime when he realizes the lady he set out to seduce is not who he believed she was. Resolved to do his duty, Blake offers marriage. It does not take long for Blake to see that Minerva is a rare woman, and really could be his for the keeping if he can play his cards right.
I have thoroughly enjoyed all of the novels in Miranda Neville's BURGUNDY CLUB series. All of the books stand on their own two feet, but I prefer to read series books in order. Start with book one, THE WILD MARQUIS, then read THE DANGEROUS VISCOUNT, THE AMAROUS EDUCATION OF CELIA SEATON and her most current release, CONFESSIONS FROM AN ARRANGED MARRIAGE. All four books are well worth reading, and each is unique with diverse characters and compelling storylines. CONFESSIONS FROM AN ARRANGED MARRIAGE is Minerva's story. I loved the push and pull between her and Blake. I was constantly on edge wondering which direction their relationship was going to go.
