Eagle has always minded his own business. He likes his job working in the local stable.  He knows that when the towns people of Bitter Creek look at him all they see is a dumb half-breed and that suites Eagle just fine. He doesn’t care what other think of him. He is content to work with his horses and to live as peaceful a life as possible but there is a land war brewing in Bitter Creek and Eagle is determined to survive it in tact. He is determined not to get involved—until the choice is taken away from him.

When Ralph Ramsey arrives at the stable beaten and bleeding from a fatal gun shot wound, Eagle knows he has to offer assistance. Ralph has always been kind to him and no man should die alone. Ralph asks Eagle to hide his horses from his murderer until someone from his family comes to claim them. Eagle agrees knowing that if his role is discovered he will be pulled into the coming battle whether he wants to be or not.

When Ralph’s brother Travis Ramsey comes to Bitter Creek in search of his brother Eagle immediately recognizes him as a hired gun. Men like him ride through town every day. He doesn’t like the idea of working with Travis but he is determined to fulfill his promise to Ralph no matter the cost.

BITTER CREEK’S REDEMPTION by T.A. Chase is an entertaining and steamy tale of the old west. It felt very authentic to me. The author does a great job of bringing the town of Bitter Creek to life. The anxiety and fear in the town is palpable. The plot has some gripping moments. I could feel that the pressure was going to burst at any moment.

Eagle and Travis are both intriguing characters. Both men are accustomed to being alone. At he beginning of the story Eagle is only interested in looking out for himself and Travis is only interested in avenging his brother and then moving on. As the novel progresses both men are changed not only by the events happening around them but by their growing feeling for one another. In each other Eagle and Travis find acceptance and love and a reason to live instead of merely survive. BITTER CREEK is an exciting historical novel and I highly recommend it.
