Achingly sexy Lord Sebastian Goddard, the Duke of Roxbury, revels in all things sinful and sensual. Having devoted the last ten years abroad, mastering the more lascivious side of debauchery, Sebastian returns to England with a recently deceased father, a decrepit castle he never thought of as home, mountains of debt sure to land him in gaol, and a once best friend, now bitter enemy as an unlikely ward. Life can't get any more complicated.

Fredericka Wells knew at the onset that no good would come from Sebastian coming home. The night he fled, after the disastrous coupling that claimed her maidenhead, Freddie knew Sebastian would never forgive her deceit. But she is not the same lovesick, pudgy 18-year-old, desperate for him to see her as anything but his friend. She is a woman, fully grown into her femininity, a scholar in her own right, with a hefty trust fund to boot. No, she is not going to let the God of Sin lord over her, or the only home she's known for the last decade.
At least, that is the plan until Sebastian declares his intent to sell Goddard Castle. It may be beyond reckless to have offered herself up as Sebastian's mistress for a month, all so Freddie can purchase the castle from him. And without a doubt, neither Freddie nor Sebastian could have foreseen the turmoil they would cause one another. But one thing was plain as day – they would go into their illicit arrangement with both eyes wide open. And come hell or high water, neither would ever be the same.
It is impossible to find a more perfect title for such a decadently erotic novel as ANY WICKED THING. Well-written, with a fine flare for flirtatious sarcasm, Ms. Rowe has penned a deliciously entertaining historical romance, blessed with insanely sexual love scenes that are equally raw and riveting.
It all begins with a seemingly typical (although in truth, totally atypical) hero and heroine. Yes, on the surface, Sebastian is a rogue beyond reckoning, with an impenetrable heart and enjoys the baser side of life. That he is constantly searching for the ultimate in sexual entertainment is to be expected for a hero like him. But there's so much more than what he scant reveals, and it all stems from the mysterious force driving him to seek out such scandalous pursuits. Some secrets, however, like the ones that propel Sebastian into a perpetual sexual vertigo, and that he grips so close to the vest (despite Freddie's best urgings), are sometimes best left hidden.
As far as Freddie goes – yes, she leads an extremely sheltered life, as is often expected of the highly learned who are more at home in a room of books than at a dinner party. But Freddie's desires, her commitment to those she loves, and her tunnel-vision determination belies her secluded station in life. Deep down she knows what she wants and she's not afraid to put herself on the line to get it. So, when the sordid agreement between Freddie and Sebastian takes fruition, it's not difficult to see where the two are headed. What "is" near impossible to figure out is which stays intact longer – their inner emotional walls or their physical stamina?
ANY WICKED THING is an all-out scandalous, albeit thoroughly fun read.
