AFLAME IN CAMELOT is eroticism and intrigue set against the backdrop of King Arthur’s court. Author Maria-Claire Payne brings the mythical land of Camelot to life, and I admit I was almost more intrigued by the story of a crumbling King Arthur’s court than I was by the romance between Bryce and Adelaide. Ms. Payne makes the falling of Camelot, the ruination of Arthur, Guinevere and Lancelot so vivid that I was spellbound by the destruction. That being said, Bryce and Adelaide were not protagonists without merit. Each is swept off their feet by the other, but class differences and prior engagements stand in their way. It’s hard not to root for Bryce and Adelaide to get their happily ever after, for they make a charming, sexy couple.
Romance, danger and a few twists on a favored legend make AFLAME IN CAMELOT a satisfying read to curl up with on a lazy afternoon.
