Sabine Laurent is used to the comforts of wealth as one of the daughters of a famous theater owner. Unfortunately, that life of luxury has deserted Sabine with her father’s death and now, she, along with her few remaining relatives, are on the verge of poverty. With a tax collector knocking daily, there seems to be only one way to raise the funds to pay him off: thievery. With her plan concocted, Sabine thinks it will be easy to take the silver but there is a definite spinnaker in the works. Jules de Moutier, the former heir of the Marquis de Blainville, a prestigious officer in the King’s Navy. He had it all once too but bad luck has left him devoid of any title, any honor and now he is a privateer, doing what he can to regain the funds to regain his family’s honor.

A powerful ruse is set in motion as Sabine convinces Jules that she is a whore, that she wants nothing more than to spend the night in his bed. But her ulterior motives make Jules wary and he knows there is more to “Elise” than appears. But what Sabine and Jules set in motion will have consequences for both of them as they try to right the wrongs of the past.

A MIDNIGHT DANCE is a sensual and thrilling love story. Sabine is a woman determined to rescue her family, even if she is not always making the smartest choices. However, she has a genuine heart and truly only wants to raise her family to some level of stability. She knows the wealth and luxury of her early years is gone but that does not mean there cannot be some kind of comfort. Jules does not always understand Sabine and sometimes makes thoughtless remarks about the common born classes that hurt her feelings. It takes quite a bit of understanding of Sabine’s position in life for Jules to truly understand that as a member of the aristocracy, he is not any better than Sabine. However, it is obvious he cares for her and truly does not mean to hurt her. There is much duplicity in this book as the characters engage in one plot after another, each trying to one up each other when it comes to the silver. They have their own personal reasons for why they are behaving that way, and even though it is not always nice, it is an honest reflection of what they would like their lives to become. Fortunately, love brings change into both Jules and Sabine’s lives, making for positive transformations for both.

A MIDNIGHT DANCE is a lusty and sensual love story. Jules and Sabine have a combustible chemistry and a hopping relationship that brings out the fieriness in both of them. Lila DiPasqua ensures readers are in for a rocky but tender relationship. Jules and Sabine are a couple to root for!
