Micah Yardley wants nothing more than to be allowed to write his poetry in peace. As a younger son he should be able to live his life the way he chooses but no one in his family understands him. Nothing stirs Micah’s passions the way poetry is the most important thing in his life, until he hears Jefferson Dering read his poetry at a Harvard lecture. He is entranced by Jefferson’s voice his way with words. Micah is determined to meet him.

Jefferson Dering is flabbergasted and very flattered when a beautiful young gentleman arrives in the small town of Wroxham just to see him. No one has ever shown this much interest in his poetry. Jefferson can’t help but agree to discuss his poetry with Micah. Even though, he promised himself he would never allow himself to care for another man.

Micah is in heaven when Jefferson agrees to meet with him. There professional discussions quickly turn to friendship. Micah never imagined feeling such a deep connection with another person. Finally he has found someone who believes in him. Jefferson inspires emotions in Micah that he can’t understand until one night when everything changes.

HIDDEN BEAUTY by Jamie Craig is a fascinating and incredibly moving novel. This is one of the most romantic stories I have ever read. This story is calm and soothing but it is also full of passion and intense emotion. The combination is very powerful. Micah and Jefferson’s relationship develops quietly and slowly so that the reader has ample time to get to know the characters and become invested in them. I read this story slowly savoring the beautiful prose. I can see myself reading this book again and again. I hope that there will be a sequel.
