Rock's WISH ME TOMORROW is a wonderfully written contemporary novel that had so many subplots throughout the story but were all tied together nicely. I felt I got to know the characters really well along with their strengths and weaknesses. Watching Becca grow up and understand her actions and how destructive and demeaning they sometimes were was nice to watch unfold, especially in how it changed her treatment of her Dad and Tommy. The strengthening of the family ties that often times included Mary, the children's caretaker, as well as Christie, was heartwarming. Eli and Christie had a chemistry that they both tried to fight, did fight, embraced and fought again. Watching their romance blossom but get pulled in different directions was interesting. There was fear, hope, sadness, happiness, many tears, connections made and broken, family, friends, romance and love. The only thing I felt was missing were a few more chapters or an epilogue to move this book a little more forward. While there is a happily ever after which played out in a totally unexpected way there was still the romantic part of me that wanted better closure of what life was like when they returned back home and were once again in the real world with jobs, distractions, etc.
Rock is a new to me author who writes young adult novels and now adult romances for Harlequin Heartwarming. I look forward to reading even the young adult novels since the blurbs on her website appealed to me. I also hope to read many more novels she writes for the Heartwarming line.
