During covert operatives Marshall and Talia’s last mission,
Marshall was seriously injured. He survived near fatal wounds, but has heard nothing from Talia or the other members of the team. The last he saw of Talia Koslov, is when she ordered him not to die, just before he lost consciousness. Months of rehabilitation later and neither she nor any of the others have made an effort to contact him.
Marshall thought he was dying all he could think of was that he wished he’d told Talia he loved her. If Talia can be this uncaring did he really know her at all?
Their affair was more than just about letting off steam during a mission, but what is Marshall to think when he’s permanently out of the ‘business’ and she’s made no effort to contact him or responded to the message he sent? In addition, as a result of his injuries he will walk with a limp the rest of his life.
When Talia turns up on his family’s land, will he take a chance on love? Or allow his pride and insecurities to push away the woman he loves?
As usual, Ms. Walters makes you care about the characters and draws you into their emotions. A great novella.
