Chloe and her fiancé Ross have always enjoyed an open relationship. They’ve agreed that it’s time to become exclusive but an argument over who’s been most faithful over the past few years gets blown out of proportion and Ross claims it’s only fair that he get a few more ‘shags’ just to even things out.
Ross actually has the audacity to tell Chloe to ‘stay put’ before storming out of their hotel room. Since Chloe isn’t about to start playing a weak-willed, biddable female and miss out on the charity ball which she’d spent the past four months organizing so she calls a cab to take her to the Arun House where the ball is taking place.
Her anger with Ross fades as she’s pursued by her former lover, Luc. Though she turns him down repeatedly, he proposes a game of hide and seek - with adult rules. Eventually their game results in Chloe getting caught, but what happens next will add a whole new dimension to her relationship with Ross since he insists on playing too.
There’s something so delightfully wicked about this story that before I knew it I was immersed in the storyline and characters and felt like I HAD to know what would happen next. Ross and Chloe have shared a somewhat distant relationship for quite some time so it’s understandable that suddenly being together all the time would culminate in some big fights - besides they’re very good at making up.
A GAME OF CHANCE
Society widow Louise is tired of men who look at her as nothing more than a possession of her cousin. She has needs and desires and she’ll do whatever she has to in order to achieve them - including tracking down the Chinese gangster who successfully bribed her cousin, the aide to the British consul. She’s positive he can provide just the sort of sexual pleasure she needs.
Her presence in the Gui Jin causes quite a stir. Someone of her class would never lower themself to enter such a den of impropriety. After defying the proprietors attempts at getting her to leave, Si Hao confronts her. Louise insists on playing a game of mah jonng. She proceeds to inform him that not only does she wish to play the game with him but since they don’t have enough players for it to be a ‘proper game’ then they should make it an improper game.
With the rest of the evening hinging on the outcome of the game, they’re both determined to win but when all is said and done, Si Hao comes out the winner and Louise is about to get a lesson in just how sinfully delicious indulging in submitting to a forbidden man can be.
There’s something so exciting about ‘bad boys’ and Louise obviously isn’t immune to the draw despite her position in society. I loved her self confident attitude and how Si Hao seems to delight in showing her the pleasures in submitting - without ‘breaking’ her. This story is far from your typical Dom/sub happily ever after story but definitely well worth reading.
Olivia Lorenz gives readers two exciting tales to whet your appetite for the extraordinary with her contribution to Whiskey Creek Press Torrid’s Torrid Teasers line. I loved the female heroines self confidence in both stories and how their men seem to know exactly what they need. There’s no shortage of plot or sexual tension in either of these tales and that’s what makes them both excellent reads.
Ms. Lorenz has several books published through various publishers but this is the first time I’ve read anything by her and I have to say this definitely won’t be the last.
