Julie Preston doesn’t make time to enjoy the small things in life and certainly never indulges in anything simply for pleasure.  She’s your typical Eight of Pentacles - ALL WORK AND NO PLAY.  Ever since her parents were killed in a car accident five years earlier, she’s buried her own needs and desires in favor of raising her younger sister.  Julie’s best friend has finally managed to drag her out for a night of fun and possibly even find a man to indulge in some carnal pleasures.

Julie’s convinced hanging out at the singles bar is a complete waste of time.  She’s got a dozen things she should be doing instead of hanging out in a smoke-filled bar waiting for Mr. Right Now.  She certainly doesn’t have time to consider a Mr. Forever.  As luck would have it the perfect specimen of manliness does show up and makes a beeline for her.  He’s perfect and despite the chemistry between them Julie only intends for their dalliance to be a one-night stand so it’s with regret that she sneaks out of the hotel room before he wakes up.

After that one incredible night with Stephen, Julie’s finding herself constantly daydreaming about him.  Her mundane life never bothered her before but suddenly she wants more.  She doesn’t realize that Emily blames herself for her sister’s lack of a love and/or social life and is determined to do something about it.  Emily just doesn’t realize that her trouble with English Lit could be the answer to her prayers.  Setting Julie up with her science teacher seems feasible but that doesn’t pan out which is a bit disappointing but not nearly as bad as learning that she’ll soon have a tutor to help bring her English grade up.

When Julie calls Great Grades Tutoring she is simply hiring help for her sister, the last thing she expects is for the man who’s been haunting her fantasies to appear on her doorstep.  How is she supposed to withstand the temptation?

ALL WORK AND NO PLAY appears to be Lila Duprés first published book and it’s so much fun to read I have to say I’ll definitely be on the lookout for more of her work in the future.  The storyline is infused with enough humor, sexual frustration and tension to really capture and hold the reader’s interest until the last page.  Julie’s drive to take care of everything is so familiar I could easily place myself in her position – well, minus the sexy stud!  Emily is charming and mischievous, which makes her bid at getting her tutor and sister together very humorous.  The tutor (whom I’m choosing not to mention by name for reasons you’ll understand when you read the book) is so perfect for Julie I really had a difficult time figuring out how she’s able to resist for so long.  This is a simply delightful read and a fine addition to the TORRID TAROT line.
