Tara Daniels never imagined that she would still be in Lucky Harbor, Washington, six months after getting the call that her mother died. But she is in fact still there and is having the time of her life, even if she does not quite let her sisters, Maddie and Chloe, know this fact. Tara is working hard to get their B&B off the ground and running. She is also working hard to avoid Ford Walker. She shared a passionate love with him when they were seventeen but that passion culminated in something that broke Tara’s heart—a baby.

Ford knows Tara has been avoiding him since being back in Lucky Harbor but he is getting tired of it. He knows there is still a simmering attraction between them and heck if he does not want to enjoy it. But the situation grows more complicated when two people from Tara’s past show up in her life again. Will their arrivals make or break Tara and Ford all over again?

It is fabulous revisiting Lucky Harbor! I have been on tenterhooks waiting for Tara and Ford’s story and yet again, Jill Shalvis does not disappoint. There are so many wonderful facets to this story, including the sisters’ growing friendship, Tara’s controlled love life, and the wild antics of Lucky Harbor’s residents on Facebook. Tara is calm and cool, or so she believes. But Ford sees that she is straining at the seams to be a little livelier, a little freer with her emotions. These two have a checkered history of both hurt and love and it shows in all their interactions. Tara and Ford are tender with each other, yet unafraid to also be assertive about their needs when necessary. They have a lot to learn about each other as adults and fortunately, they have the time (and attraction!) to do so. I will say, Tara’s constant dithering started to become tiresome near the book’s end but I knew she had it in her to finally pull out all the stops on her emotions and she most definitely did near the book’s charming ending. Add in the wacky residents of Lucky Harbor, several very amusing Facebook polls, and a growing family bond, and this book is a rollicking good time. THE SWEETEST THING is the second book in the Lucky Harbor series and if you have not read the first book yet, this one will certainly compel you to do so. I enjoyed revisiting Lucky Harbor, but more than anything, the reconciliation of Tara and Ford made the time spent with this book well worth it. THE SWEETEST THING is shiny and wonderful book goodness.
