Sheik Amir Abu al Bari has big plans to build a new office tower in Dubai so he’s enlisted the aid of Axelrod Architecture firm in Texas to help make his dream a reality.  He intends to break grounds in one month – an idea that Jamie feels is impossibility because of the codes and client approval and time it would take to draw up the design.

Jamie brings herself to the Sheik’s attention by speaking up at the staff meeting about his building.  While her employer had no intention of having her involved in the project, Sheik Abu al Buri has other ideas.  He informs her boss Matt that either Jamie accompanies him to Dubai or he’ll take his business elsewhere.

Jamie has absolutely no interest in building the Sheik’s unnecessary office building.  Her heart and ambition lies in her current project – a hospital for the indigent.  Unfortunately those plans are about to take a backseat because of the Sheik’s demands.  Within hours she’s packed and on a private plane to some country she’s never had any interest in visiting and the Sheik is doing his best to win her affections.  All Jamie wants to do is get her job done and return home but she soon learns that the Sheik has other ideas for her future – making her the first woman in his harem.  Furthermore, women aren’t permitted to work in Dubai and this sort of deceit isn’t something she’s going to tolerate.

Amir has wanted Jamie from the moment she spoke up at the meeting and in his opinion he’s improving the quality of her life by ‘kidnapping’ her from her former life.  He even goes so far as to admit to her that he paid her employer for her already.  If he has any hope of giving her a reason to remain in Dubai then he’s going to have to treat her as an equal, understand what’s truly important to her and admit to loving her – not just desiring her.  Is he up to the challenge?  And is Jamie open to accepting the possibility of her life taking such a drastic turn?

Leah Leonard combines the fantasy of being desired by a powerful Sheik with the reality of wanting to be treated as an equal in a sweet storyline which I found to be a delightful read.  Sheik Amir Abu al Bari is accustomed to women falling at his feet and into his bed at his merest whim but Jamie is very different and he’s not entirely sure how to proceed with her.  As Jamie’s background is revealed the reader will be able to better understand why she works so diligently to help the underprivileged and finds the Sheik’s vast wealth almost insulting.  THE SHEIK’S DESIGN is a thoroughly enjoyable tale full of all the hope and love any woman could desire.
