The woman who walked away from his sticky situation that day, and who refused to help him off the slide, turns out to be the very one he needed to be friends with. Sandra and her sister's preschool would help his career. The part he needed to land was for a fatherly role. He hated to admit it, but he needed their help. He had no children and the small school the two sisters own was perfect for him to study for the part.
On the very first day Ben knew he was totally out of his element, especially when he ends up killing the preschool's classroom mascot, a spider. Boy, he screwed things up big time. And from there, the day didn't look any brighter.
Sandra ran a tight ship, and he was more than irritating to her. He was a child stuck in a man's body. And he was a celebrity. Just like her ex-husband. And people like that played with others feelings and emotions like it were the very air they were breathing. She didn't like him from the get-go, and after the havoc he'd created with the spider, and how her teachers were falling all over his movie-star butt, just secured her hatred for him even more.
Too bad he kissed her, and worse, Sandra kissed him back. She couldn't stand behind hating him any longer. Her kiss ruined even that for her. How could she save face without having liar written all over it? Add to that, her mind and body teamed up, creating more havoc, the traitors! Staying away from Ben was proving to be the impossible task.
How could Sandra avoid him when he would be working with her so closely? And did she really want to? It didn't matter though, a call came through to Ben from his agent, and mister best kisser of her lifetime, was stepping backwards; friends only from there on out he promised. Which was exactly where she said it needed to be from day one. But now that Ben was saying it, why was getting exactly what she wanted, not such a prize after all?
The sparks the second Ben and Sandra are in the same room leap off of the pages! You can't help but want them to spend every second together, even when they're trying so hard to stay away from each other. Hannah, Sandra's daughter, her sister Missy, Carol, a teacher, and the kids, add just the right touches to THE ROLE OF A LIFETIME.
You'll be laughing out loud one minute and then your heart goes out the very next. If you only have time to read one book this summer, THE ROLL OF A LIFETIME is a must read! This is the first story from Ms. Shirk I've read but it certainly won't be the last.
