Ginger Garrison is just trying to get by, raising her twin sons, and making ends meet. After her divorce from a philandering husband, she is glad to be free of him, but it has also brought many of her insecurities to the surface. At a friend’s wedding, she meets sexy photographer Lucio “Lucky” Montevez. He makes her feel tingly and sexy and definitely one hundred percent woman again but there is no way they can make something serious work between them.

Lucio may be a fabulous globe-trotting photographer, but right now, he is stuck in a bit of bad business and cannot escape into the exciting assignments he is used to. Instead, he decides to spend his time with Ginger. He is very attracted to her and likes being involved in her life. Her twin boys are starting to look up to him and all in all, life is going fabulously. But Lucio has never settled down before and when his career comes calling again, will he be able to resist?
THE NIGHT SHE GOT LUCKY, the second book in Susan Donovan’s Dog Walker Trilogy, is a pleasant contemporary story. Lucio and Ginger have chemistry aplenty and they make the pages zoom by. Add in the wacky secondary characters (Ginger’s dog walking pals, her ex-husband, and her exuberant twins) and well, the story is rife with slapstick humor also. I really enjoyed the sparks between these characters and watching Ginger start to finally look past her bad marriage into the possibilities of a strong relationship.
THE NIGHT SHE GOT LUCKY has some humor, plenty of romantic escapades, and a funny little dog to add in some wackiness. Not for every romance reader, but Susan Donovan’s fans will surely approve.
