A desperate Greek shows up on Sophie Patterson’s doorstep in Australia, on the day of her mother’s funeral no less. Sophie, daughter of Costas’ late mother-in-law’s twin sister. He lost his wife
a year earlier and all he has left is his little girl. He prays that Sophie
will be a match.
He finally convinces her to come to Greece to be tested so she will be close and a transplant can be done as soon as possible should she be a match. The last thing Costas expects is to be so attracted to the woman who reminds him so much of his late wife. A woman he is unable and unwilling to trust.
Sophie is very likable and sympathetic and Costas is multi-layered. Layer by layer is peeled away to reveal the reasons for his distrust of Sophie but he is unable to fight his attraction. There are several intense scenes where the two are ripped apart and any chance of happiness nearly shredded. An emotional rollercoaster of a book.
