Aidan West is a brilliant computer programmer but his social skills leave a lot to be desired. He finds it very difficult to relate to people. A year ago he helped Nic Gerrard create the program that makes Sparks the most successful matching program in the world. The two men worked very closely together and Aidan was forced to work hard to disguise his growing attraction to his boss.
When Nic tells Aidan that not only does he want to work closely on the new changes to wants to make to the database but that he wants to get to know him better on a personal level Aidan first reaction is to push Nic away. After all, Nic can have anyone he wants so why would he be interested in an antisocial computer geek like him?
SPARKS FLY by Clare London is a diverting and sensual read. The most interesting aspect of this story for me is the development of the heroes and the way they relate to each throughout the story. Neither of these men is really happy with the way they are living their lives. I sympathized with both of them but especially Aidan. He may seem rude and unapproachable but inside he is a good person who has been hurt terribly. I especially loved the way these two characters bring out the worst and the best in each other and that each has what the other is missing.
