Mandy Morris is a producer looking for the perfect town to film a reality television series about small towns in America. She’s fallen in love with Pigeon Hollow and wants desperately to film there. But there’s the little issue of release forms and the too-sexy Jared’s refusal to sign one.
I fell in love with Jared when he was first introduced in RED BLOODED and was thrilled when I learned he’d have a story as well. He’s one of the good ol’ boys, laid back and just enjoys the small things in life. Mandy is out to prove that she’s capable of making a hit television show. The sexual tension alone is enough to keep you reading but there’s also a thrilling plot line and characters you won’t want to miss.
Cole Ryan has spent ten years making a life of fame and fortune in pro-ball. When an injury sidelines him, he returns to his hometown of Pigeon Hollow and the girl who’d dumped him without any real explanation.
Lizzie Barton has been in love with Cole most of her life. She had valid reasons for breaking up with Cole, though she’d done her best to keep him from finding out the truth. Now that he’s back in town there’s no way she can continue to keep her secret. Will he be able to get past her deception and still want her in his life?
This is such a great story of a love that survives an extended absence but even then there are other issues that have to be dealt with. Both Cole and Lizzie had dreams for their lives. Lizzie sacrifices hers so that Cole could have his dream of playing ball. You’ll want to catch every moment of this fun-filled emotional tale.
Deputy Sheriff Bobby Barton can’t do anything without a television camera following his every move eighteen hours a day. To make matters worse, he’s developing an interest in the assistant producer, Christy Dunne. In order to keep a tape of him punching Cole off the air, he had to agree to let her ride along with him during his shifts. He doesn’t want to get involved with her because she’s only supposed to be in town for two months - the duration of the show.
Christy Dunne has a serious infatuation with Bobby that goes far beyond anything that can be shown on the television. She’d do anything to spend more time with him, including risking her job by giving up the most valuable tape they have. It’s unethical for her to get involved with Bobby - until after the taping for the show is over. Will they be able to resist temptation?
Ride along with Bobby as he does his best to avoid the pitfall of falling in love while protecting the good citizens of Pigeon Hollow. You’ll sympathize with Bobby’s plight for privacy and admire Christy’s tenacity and sense of ethics.
Cat Johnson’s SMALLTOWN HEAT is finally here. We got our first taste of Pigeon Hollow in and have been anxiously awaiting Jared’s story ever since. SMALL TOWN HEAT combines all the fun and craziness of small town life with a touch of big city life by adding in the reality television craze. I got a huge chuckle out of imagining this television crew from California all holed up in the one motel in town which happens to be right next to the honky-tonk bar. Ms. Johnson always does a beautiful job giving us characters full of emotions that we think about long after reading the final page. Each story flows smoothly into the next so that you never feel like your being yanked from one storyline to another. SMALL TOWN HEAT will definitely be given a place on my keeper shelf.
