It all starts when Gemma and her friend literally run into a dark stranger who fits the fortune-teller's description to a T. Gemma's friend begs her to intervene on her behalf since her car is not insured, and she is the one at fault for hitting him. Gemma is mortified but approaches the stranger, Nick, to explain the situation. He agrees to forego reporting the accident if Gemma will go out on a date with him.
That is where it all starts. Gemma is torn about whether she should see Nick because of certain things the fortune-teller said, but she gives into impulse and meets with him anyway. Gemma and Nick hit it off from the beginning and begin dating regularly. Things are going rather well, but soon Gemma starts to doubt their relationship and that is when it all goes downhill for them. Will it all work out for them, or will fate tear them apart?!
SECOND-GUESSING FATE is a contemporary novel by Claire Robyns. I took one look at the book blurb and almost decided not to read it since contemporaries are usually not my go-to genre, but I am so glad I decided to give it a go. SECOND-GUESSING FATE had me ensnared in its web from page one. I love everything about the book; real characters, believable storyline and just the right amount of romance. Nick and Gemma are hilarious. The things Gemma does to try and make fate speed up left me in tears, and even funnier was Nick trying to make sense of them. SECOND-GUESSING FATE is a romance that will stand for all time. I cannot wait to see what Ms. Robyns writes next.
