Julie Marchant’s job is her life. She travels the world buying fine gems for a large jeweler. Her focus in life is her work, being the best while being female in a male dominated industry. Even when she socializes she is at work and decked out in the latest fashion in gems - a walking promotion.

Mitchell Cartwright comes from a rich family and enjoys his globetrotting archeology career to the fullest. He doesn’t do relationships - they are just a complicated waste of time as far as he is concerned.

By chance, Julie and Mitchell meet at a social event. They share a night of passion; but, Julie wakes up alone. As much as it upsets her, she puts it down to a one-night stand. However, fate brings them together again - Julie’s last-minute change of holiday plans take her to Laos , which is where Mitchell is working. Once again, their paths cross and they give in to their obvious chemistry.

As Laos falls into civil war, Julie and Mitchell find themselves trapped with their lives in danger. Together, they try to get home but their past actions come back to hunt them. Will they find love with each other or will fate keep them apart?
